Super Fun Roads Leading to Lunch in Rogers, AR

We planned to meet in Rogers, Arkansas some of Mike’s college buddies from his University of Arkansas graduate school days.  We would not have otherwise ridden the roads described in this route, and the roads AR-127 and AR-12 turned out to be super fun riding with no traffic, good surface and plenty of curves to make it interesting.  AR-12’s traffic did get busy the closer we got to Rogers though.  We ate at Las Palmas, a Mexican restaurant in Rogers.  It was a cut above most Mexican restaurants.  There are plenty of gas stations in Rogers so you can fill up there and have enough gas to get you back to Harrison.  We headed back to Harrison a different way by riding “Race Track Road”, AR-221.  This 9 mile road has virtually no traffic and fun race track type curves so one can ride it pretty quickly if desired.  We only rode it one way, but in past years we have ridden it up and back, and that is what I recommend.  Taking AR-302 to get to AR-221 was no fun since AR-302 is just a slow back road without scenery.  Here is the route map to get to Rogers from Alpena, AR.  The detailed route description is shown below the map:
