Getting around Kerrville, TX (literally) to get to TX-16 towards Medina

It is kind of fun going through a town like Kerrville the first few rides to see what the town has to offer.  There are a LOT of traffic lights in Kerrville and of course it seemed that every light would turn red upon our approach.  So far, our favorite ride is TX-16 from Kerrville to Medina, but the idea of hitting all those traffic lights in Kerrville was a bit of a mental encumbrance.  We have now found an easy route that only adds an extra 2 miles, is more pleasant, and seems a lot faster to get around Kerrville.  The route is shown below:

Head south on TX-16 S from Fredericksburg to Kerrville.  Go 22 mi.

After you cross under the I-10 overpass in Kerrville, turn left at the 2nd stop light onto TX-534 Loop S.  Go 4.3 mi.  You will cross over TX-27, and road will dead end at next traffic light.

Turn left onto TX-173 S at stoplight.  Go 3.8 mi.

Right onto FM-2271/ Lower Turtle Creek Rd.  Go 6.3 mi to stop sign with blinking light.

Left onto TX-16 S to Medina.  Go 16 mi.

To reverse the direction from Medina to Kerriville to Fredericksburg:

Head north on TX-16 N from Medina.  Go 16 mi passing the Valero gas station on the left to the yellow blinking light.

Right onto FM-2271/ Lower Turtle Creek Rd at yellow blinking light.  Go 6.3 mi to stop sign.

Left onto TX-173 S.  Go 3.8 mi to stop light.

Right onto TX-534 Loop N.  Go 4.3 mi to stoplight.  Stay in right lane which must turn right.

Right onto TX-16 N.  Go 22 mi to Fredericksburg.
